Happy Birthday to… OOA Foundation

On the 22nd of October, 2021 we clocked 5 years in operations with our team. It’s been 5 years of being a non-profit, non-governmental organization that supports orphans, vulnerable children, youth and women with increased access to quality education, improved primary healthcare and psycho-social support.

Did you know that only 44% of businesses survive their first five years?

For us at OOA, we have not only beaten that mark, we shall not stop until every vulnerable children, youth & women we come in contact with never left behind in poverty and sorrow.

Below Are Our Top 5 Impact Programs at OOAF in the First 5 Years

1. The OVC Care & Support Program (Leave No Child Behind)

The Foundation launched her OVC Care & Support program with 300 Orphans & Vulnerable children carefully pulled from six (6) Local Governments within the three (3) Senatorial Districts in Ogun State. We have successfully supported these children through various intervention programs ranging from educational support to recreational support and this intervention has proven to be life saving in providing quality education, creating an enabling environment to reduce poverty and stigma amongst the OVC and their peers in the communities.

2. The OVC-Donor Match Picnic

As part of the foundation’s psychosocial and recreational support, on Monday, January 2, 2017, 300 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) were conveyed to Lagos to meet with their donors for the first time at a special Picnic/New Year Party.

The children, most of whom were also visiting Lagos State for the first time were visibly overwhelmed with joy as they danced and partied their way through the one-day picnic which took place at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.
Most of the donors attended with their biological children to meet and bond with their adoptees.

3. English As a Second Language (The ESL Project)

OOA Foundation in March 2017 partnered with Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF). During the English As a Second Language Camp in Ibefun, Ogun state, WARIF`s team had a 90-minute classroom session with the OVC; ages 3-14, their parents and caregivers to sensitize them on sexual abuse Prevention and the various sorts of maltreatment.

The first edition of the ESL camp was however, held in April 2017 at St Francis Catholic Nursery and Primary School, Ibefun, Ogun State, Nigeria.

4. OOAF Lights Up Rural Community With Central Electric

In June 2021, we partnered with Central Electric in a bid to meet up with the 17 SDGs specifically the 7th goal: ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ and a total of 190 solar panel systems were deployed to residents of Odogbolu, Ogun state.

5. Imeko Easter Camp Outreach and Security Assessment

In April 2021, we visited the hard-to-reach Imeko in Ogun state to get first hand security information about reports on the ongoing the farmer-herders clash and its impact on the lives of children and the community at large.

So far, through our partnership program with HfH, 11 children have received free open-heart surgery.

Here’s to more greater years ahead!

Vesta Orchestra Thrills OOAF’s Kids at The Afri-Classical Oct 1st 2021 Concert

It was an evening of fun and her first train ride to Lagos and back home for 18-year old Toyin Aderibigbe who attends Doveseal College, Ondo state on the 1st of October, 2021. Toyin is one of the 300 vulnerable children that the Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu Foundation caters for in Ogun state and other parts of Nigeria. She was well assisted on the trip by one of our community care volunteers Barrister Dayo Adebisi. ⁣

The Vesta Orchestra is helping to change the lives of musicians by providing a performance stage for young, incredibly talented Africans pursuing careers in Performing Arts. It was founded by a group of musicians who saw the need to establish a world class orchestra, that would showcase the great talent available in Nigeria and Africa at large. ⁣

⁣On performance at the concert that evening were a number of interesting works by Nigerian composers. ⁣

Special thanks to the British Council in Nigeria for this great opportunity.⁣

OOAF Lights Up Rural Community With Central Electric

We reached out to the southern part of Nigeria, Abeokuta, Ogun State in June 2021 precisely which can be classified as a rural community where our partnership with Central Electric enhances our focus on energy
