World Heart Day 2022: AbleGod’s Heart Story

In celebration of the World Health Day which held in September, we shine the spotlight on our efforts to improve access to healthcare for thousands of vulnerable groups- children, women, adolescents.

AbleGod Tiku is one of the many beneficiaries of our sponsored open-heart surgery for children living with congenital heart defects (CHDs) as part of our healthcare intervention for OVCs.

Happy Birthday to… OOA Foundation

On the 22nd of October, 2021 we clocked 5 years in operations with our team. It’s been 5 years of being a non-profit, non-governmental organization that supports orphans, vulnerable children, youth and women with increased access to quality education, improved primary healthcare and psycho-social support.

Did you know that only 44% of businesses survive their first five years?

For us at OOA, we have not only beaten that mark, we shall not stop until every vulnerable children, youth & women we come in contact with never left behind in poverty and sorrow.

Below Are Our Top 5 Impact Programs at OOAF in the First 5 Years

1. The OVC Care & Support Program (Leave No Child Behind)

The Foundation launched her OVC Care & Support program with 300 Orphans & Vulnerable children carefully pulled from six (6) Local Governments within the three (3) Senatorial Districts in Ogun State. We have successfully supported these children through various intervention programs ranging from educational support to recreational support and this intervention has proven to be life saving in providing quality education, creating an enabling environment to reduce poverty and stigma amongst the OVC and their peers in the communities.

2. The OVC-Donor Match Picnic

As part of the foundation’s psychosocial and recreational support, on Monday, January 2, 2017, 300 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) were conveyed to Lagos to meet with their donors for the first time at a special Picnic/New Year Party.

The children, most of whom were also visiting Lagos State for the first time were visibly overwhelmed with joy as they danced and partied their way through the one-day picnic which took place at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.
Most of the donors attended with their biological children to meet and bond with their adoptees.

3. English As a Second Language (The ESL Project)

OOA Foundation in March 2017 partnered with Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF). During the English As a Second Language Camp in Ibefun, Ogun state, WARIF`s team had a 90-minute classroom session with the OVC; ages 3-14, their parents and caregivers to sensitize them on sexual abuse Prevention and the various sorts of maltreatment.

The first edition of the ESL camp was however, held in April 2017 at St Francis Catholic Nursery and Primary School, Ibefun, Ogun State, Nigeria.
